Dr. Umar Jan is President – European Operations at Sabinsa Europe GmbH, leading regional strategy, market expansion, and commercial execution for the company’s proprietary, science-backed ingredient portfolio. Over the past four years he has steered the technical dimension of sales, translating complex R&D into customer value, strengthening go-to-market, and building partnerships that accelerate growth across Europe. A scientist-operator by training, Dr. Jan holds a Doctorate in Biophysical Chemistry from Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, and an Executive MBA from Mannheim Business School, where he sharpened strategy, finance, and leadership foundations. Before Sabinsa, he spent a decade in internationally distinguished research environments—the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg. At EMBL he earned the competitive CO-FUND Marie Curie and EMBO Long-Term fellowships and published in high-impact journals including Nature, Nature Methods, Nature Communications, EMBO, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC). Dr. Jan’s leadership focuses on disciplined expansion: prioritizing customer problems, positioning differentiated solutions, and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams. He is passionate about evidence-led commercialization, regulatory and technical advocacy with clients, and strategic partnerships that scale innovation responsibly and profitably across the European nutraceuticals landscape.
